Review: Where the Library Hides by Isabel Ibañez

Where the Library Hides by Isabel Ibañez. Boom Review

Jaw-dropping twist, satisfying end

Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)

This was a fantastic conclusion to Inez’s story. The action definitely leveled up from the first book, and I really enjoyed watching Inez grow. Her journey toward understanding herself—what she wants and what she stands for—was so satisfying to witness.

Now, those twists? Jaw-dropping. I genuinely didn’t see them coming. They raised the stakes in a meaningful way and, more importantly, challenged Inez’s character and everything she believed up to that point in her journey. I loved how she ultimately carved out a life on her own terms.

Spoiler alert!
The parents were especially compelling. Their arc illustrated the theme of corruption so well, how power and greed can truly transform people. Learning how they became who they were was one of the most fascinating parts of the story for me. It also served as a powerful mirror for Inez’s own evolving values and choices.

The assembly of characters kind of snuck up on me—I didn’t even realize how strong their connections had become until about halfway through the book. But by the end, I found them genuinely endearing.

Another standout element was the historical depth and rich research the author brought into the story, particularly around Egypt and its mythology. You can really feel the care and thought she put into that world-building, which I always appreciate.

Overall, I think I actually liked this one even more than the first. The duology as a whole is a stellar example of YA fantasy, filled with heart, layered themes, and gorgeous writing.
